As part of the Certificate III in Investigative Service, the Australian School of Security and Investigations (ASSI) delivers a comprehensive one-day short course designed to enhance the skills of investigators who regularly take statements and conduct interviews with witnesses and persons of interest.
This course is regularly delivered to national and international agencies with outstanding results being achieved due to the unique methodology used.
Whilst the course forms part of the certificate course, it can be attended by any person and completed as a single unit of competency.
The Australian School of Security and Investigations Interview, Statement and Report Writing Course provides hands on training to any persons who are required to write reports, conduct interviews or take statements. The course is held under realistic conditions using scenario based learning methodology.
The course is delivered over a two day period in Victoria as this is a requirement of the Victoria Police Licensing Division.
A tailor-made two day version of this course is also delivered to government and corporate groups upon request.
Course Outline
Participants are led through a series of theory and practical exercises which are designed to enhance their information gathering skills and the way in which they interpret evidence, information and legislation. There is a focus on how gathered information is pieced together and how assumptions should not be made until all the facts are gathered.
Discussions are also held re court protocols and preparing to give evidence at court.
During the afternoon session participants engage in theory and practical exercises which are designed to enhance their interview and statement taking skills. The use of scenarios, case studies and role plays all combine to provide a solid learning environment where participants will feel confident in both setting up and conducting an interview with a witness or customer. Course participants will be required to take conduct an interview and take a statement as part of the course.

Please refer to our courses schedule for upcoming dates. Dates can be mutually agreed for private clients and the course is delivered in all states however a minimum of 7 persons are required for a private course to be considered.
Costs
The cost of the course is $320.00 per person and the price is fully inclusive of all training material and equipment hire if applicable. There is no GST payable as the course is considered nationally accredited training which is GST exempt.
