Questions & Answers about MOAB ®
Q. I want to know how to protect myself in a threatening situation but many companies try to train you in martial arts. How can you learn martial arts in one day?
A. You can't and the MOAB course was designed to address these concerns. The course uses simple but very effective strategies and techniques that can be used in everyday situations by an average person. You do not have to be a Kung Fu Master to utilse these techniques.
Q. I am a teacher at a school with a reputation for violence. Will this course help me?
A. Definitely. The course is designed to assist anyone who may be working in an environment where threatening behavior may be experienced. The course uses de - escalation techniques rather than physical confrontations when dealing with aggressive people.
Q. I did one of these types' courses last year and it was all about wrestling on the ground with instructors and taking guns off them. It really was quite silly. What does MOAB offer?
A. MOAB was first delivered over 20 years ago and has been developed over many years to show how a person can manage, not confront aggressive behavior. There is a big difference. Many companies train with the assumption there is going to be a physical confrontation. In almost 99% of cases, it is well documented that if the confrontation is managed correctly it will not escalate to a physical level. That is what MOAB is all about.
Q. I am not that fit and a bit overweight. Will I struggle with this course?
A. Not at all. The course is designed for the average person. It does not matter if you are very short, very large, young or old. The techniques are learned through repetition and scenario based training.
Q. Are the instructors well trained? Do they know what they are talking about?
A. Our instructors are not only extremely well trained but have many life experiences that justify the worth of this training. Our Head Instructor, Adrian Francis is a former Police Detective with years of negotiation experience including a commendation for successfully negotiating with a psychologically disturbed person threatening to jump from the top span of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Q. Do I receive any recognition of the training that I undertake?
A. Yes, you will receive a certificate of accreditation which is valid for a period of two years. You will then need to participate in a re validation course to maintain that accreditation.
Q. I am the Human Resource Manager for a major health care service. How can this course assist me?
A. The MOAB course is designed to address the need for employers to provide a duty of care for employees. If a staff member is assaulted at work then the first matter they will raise is the fact that they were not adequately trained to deal with the situation. MOAB training will address that situation.
Q. Is the training expensive?
A. The course price is per session for up to 16 persons, not per person. If you need to break the cost down the one day training session works out to be about $120.00 per person. How much is the safety of you or your staff worth?
Q. Is there any books provided? Is there an exam?
A. Yes, each course attendee is issued with an instruction manual and there is a short multiple question exam at the end of the course. Because MOAB is an accredited course we need to be sure that you understand the material.
